CLERGY AND STAFF
Rev. Jeff Bert - Pastor Greetings! I was ordained as a pastor here on October 1, 2006. My role in our church is to oversee pastoral care ministries and to provide leadership in worship and outreach ministries of our church. One of my prime inspirations comes from John 10:10, where Jesus says, "I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly." I believe God desires that we live abundant, transformed lives of authenticity and wholeness. As pastor, I hope to help facilitate that God-transformation in any way I can (in your life and mine!).
Mr. Dan Dowd - Director of Administration
Mr. Danny Gladden - Director of Communications & Volunteer MinistriesI have been a part of MCCGSL since August of 2005. Throughout life, we are able to cite experiences that changed our course or direction. For me, walking through the doors of MCCGSL was just that. Finally, I was not able to only love God, but know for sure that God loves me. I was able to feel comfortable knowing that God made me just the way that I am. I was able to worship in a safe place, being who God made me to be. In return, I am able to show others love and make them feel welcome as they walk through the doors of MCCGSL. As Director of Communications & Volunteer Ministries, it is my goal to help people use their spiritual gifts in church ministry. There are so many ways to plug in at MCCGSL. It is my goal to help point you in the right direction. Feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have.
Ms. Katie Roberts - Administrative Assistant One of my most wonderful experiences since coming out in 2001 has been meeting and getting to know the exceptional people involved with MCCGSL. I know and have experienced firsthand the love and acceptance that these folks have for all people regardless of race, orientation, gender identity and spiritual philosophy. This church does an incredible amount to support the local community, and I have the privilege of seeing and hearing about it during my workdays. I want to thank all the staff and all parishioners here at MCCGSL for allowing me to do the type of work that I love to do!
Mr. Jerry Smith - Director of Music Welcome to MCCGSL. My name is Jerry Smith and I have served as the Director of Music for our church since 2003. I have been active with MCCGSL for over 10 years prior to becoming the Director of Music. What a blessing it is to work with the staff and fellow musicians in our congregation! There are many gifts present in our church and everyone is so willing to share and serve. God is moving and working in wonderful ways during our worship time together as well. We have a desire to worship God and deepen our relationship through music in our church. God speaks to us so clearly through music and in the many styles of music we experience each week. My prayer is that the music you hear in our services will reflect the love we have for God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. May God Bless You!

Rev. Bev Stephenson - Pastor, Covenant Families MCC has been my home for almost 26 years. I am delighted to serve on staff at MCCGSL, and a wonderful staff it is. My areas of responsibility are the membership classes, assigning the worship participants for both worship services, teaching, working on our cell group's program, supervising a student-in-formation, liaison to several teams and seem to be the UFMCC unofficial historian.
 - Senior Pastor Hello! Welcome to MCCGSL. I started my journey here as Senior Pastor on November 30, 2003. My primary areas of ministry are visioning, preaching, leadership development, spiritual guidance, and stewardship. I assist in areas of pastoral care and congregational education. My call to ministry is found in Luke 4:18, ³The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because God has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. God has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the time of God¹s favor.²
 - Pastor, Congregational Education My name is Rev. Sue Yarber and I am the Director of Congregational Life at Metropolitan Community Churches of Greater St. Louis. I devote much of my work to helping people overcome oppressive religious histories. I facilitate, along with wonderful church members, a group entitled Recovering From Homophobic Religion. There has been much psychological and spiritual damage done to the G/L/B/T community in the name of religion. I seek to help folks heal from a distortion of scripture and history that has created an atmosphere of spiritual abuse in many mainstream churches. |
