VALUES STATEMENT
A "Values Statement" sets the basic beliefs and boundaries of opportunity in which individuals and groups within the congregation can live out the mission and vision statements. It provides the subtle boundaries that approve or discourage certain attitudes and behaviors.
As the Metropolitan Community Church of Greater St. Louis, we highly value the following:
Authenticity - our demonstration of being dependably and genuinely open, direct and truthful, while at the same time being considerate, respectful and fair. Authentic people are consistently trusted to be pure in their motivation and honest in relating with others.
Grace - our expression of creating, cultivating and sustaining a church culture of love, trust and appreciation. As believers who demonstrate grace with dignity, we gratefully receive God’s love, mercy, forgiveness, kindness and compassion and then seek to extend this same grace to all we meet.
Generosity - the giving of our time, talents and financial resources to MCC and the general community. Generous people look for involvement in opportunities to give while expecting nothing in return. The blessings of generosity are in the very acts themselves.
Justice - the belief that all people should live equally full and enriching lives. People who work for justice realize that the peace we feel in our hearts and the measure of God’s love we have been given are not for us alone. Living out justice means going beyond ourselves to work eagerly for rightness and righteousness of God’s will in our diverse society.
Growth - challenging ourselves and others, striving for excellence, maintaining principled self-discipline and demonstrating maturity, positive thinking and spiritual devotion. We as individuals and as a church seek continued growth and also endeavor to include, empower and develop others. |
