Dedications: Similar to the various understandings and traditions around baptism, we have variety around the practice of baby dedications. In some church denominations, babies are dedicated by parents, meaning that a public statement of intent to raise and educate the child in the Christian faith is made. The general belief of these traditions is that when the child reaches an age of understanding the spiritual significance of baptism and the commitments to the body of Christ, they will make that decision for themselves.  We do baby dedications for families who come from these backgrounds or adhere to this belief around baptism and its role in the Christian faith.
