WEEKLY MEDITATION
Reflection May 7, 2008 Rev. Sue Yarber
"Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." ------ Philippians 4:6
God knows our every need and always seeks to care for us. Whether you are in a time in your life where you experience God's hand leading you or you are in time in your life where you are searching for the words to let God know your needs. Even as you struggle to find the answers God knows them before you can articulate them. I sometimes do not know what to pray for in a particular situation. I find great comfort in the sure knowledge that God knows my every need.
God's timing is always perfect. It doesn't always feel perfect to us. We might be shocked by a sudden tragedy in our lives or stunned by a change we hadn't prepared for happening without any control over it. The truth is that God sees the big picture and works out the details of our lives in such a way that we will be in the right place at the right time for God's will to unfold. We have to get out of God's way so that God can make God's will clear to us.
Sometimes God has to chase me down because I am running around so sure that I know what God wants me to do. God will get my attention in those moments. A trusted friend will ask some thought-provoking questions or I will be met with a block at every turn in my plans. Sooner or later I get the message that I am headed the wrong way and I remember to sit and wait on God's leading. All of the doors open and I am able to walk through God's plan with ease and surprising comfort.
I learn the lesson over and over again. I guess that is a part of my dance with my maker. Dancing is just as much about knowing when to be still as it is about knowing when to move. As we consider the property at 1919 Broadway, we need to take time out to listen to God's direction speaking to each of us in the stillness of our hearts. I believe that if we are willing to make room for God to come and show us the path will be clear. Be blessed with a peaceful mind and an open heart and God will surely come to lead you.
