Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect

  • Metropolitan Community Church of Greater St. Louis 7423 Michigan Avenue St. Louis, MO, 63111 United States (map)

Wednesdays Onsite & Thursdays Online at 6:30 pm

What does it mean to live honestly and tenderly in our bodies?

In this 4-week gathering, we’ll explore various themes from Valerie Bertinelli’s book Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect. We will explore these themes through conversation, storytelling, prayer, and reflection. Together, we’ll make space to honor, love, and respect our bodies as sacred companions that carry us through life.

This class invites us into vulnerable places. Many of us carry complicated stories about our bodies. We all carry stories shaped by shame, gendered expectations, joy, survival, aging, illness, or simply the experience of being human. And yet, we believe there is healing when we courageously tell the truth about ourselves in compassionate community.

Each gathering will include grounding practice, reflections on the book, space to tell stories about our bodies and experiences, and invitations to carry compassion and curiosity into the week.

You are never required to share beyond what feels safe. But together, we hope to practice the sacred work of showing up honestly, listening deeply, and learning from one another with tenderness and care.
