Meet Our Lay Delegates!

The Lay Delegates are elected by Metropolitan Community Church of Greater Saint Louis members and facilitate connections and the sharing of information between the denominational MCC and MCCGSL. They attend and represent the congregation at the MCC General Conference as our voting delegates.

Cheryl Stockton, she/her

Cheryl Stockton is a (very) long-time member at MCCGSL, and a firm believer in all that MCC represents in Saint Louis and throughout the world.

In spite of the "mountains and valleys" that we've experienced as a small church in the middle of the USA and as a small denomination in a hurting world, Cheryl believes that the Love and Inclusion that we preach and exemplify is as vital today as it ever has been.

This worldwide "movement" called Metropolitan Community Churches needs churches like MCC of Greater Saint Louis to continue the mission and the powerful message of God's inclusive Love and that she can help support that by working with MCC and our local leadership -- in the role of Lay Delegate.  (A year-round role! not just during General Conference time.),

Cheryl and and her wife, Pat, have been involved in very many ministries and aspects of our church over the years, but Cheryl has always had a heart for the connecting our congregation more intentionally with our denomination.

Zeke Meyer, he/him

Deeply rooted in this area where I was born and raised, I returned in 2012 after time away for employment, seeking not just a place to live, but a progressive spiritual community for growth and connection.

This search led my wife (Melanie) and I through more than a dozen churches, but the moment we experienced MCCGSL – with its rich history championing civil and human rights for all and its soul-stirring music – we instantly knew we were "home."

Over the years, I've joyfully engaged in spiritual programs, served in diverse capacities from Communion ministry to planning annual Transgender Day of Remembrance/Visibility services, and built cherished friendships through shared adventures.

As a grateful MCCGSL member and a Benedictine Oblate, my relationship with the Divine and this vibrant community is central to my being. It is with this deep appreciation that I now choose to serve as a Lay Delegate, aiming to give back locally and act as a vital liaison to the broader church community.

Melanie and Zeke reside in St. Charles with their two dogs (Levi and Patrick).
