Do you have vocal talent? Can you match pitch and rhythms easily? Are you available on Thursday evenings? If you answered yes to these three questions, then the choir might be a great fit for you! The MCCGSL Choir meets each and every week throughout the year on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm to prepare for Sunday worship, concerts and community events. It's a fantastic group of singers who love to sing and praise. If you have an interest in joining the choir, please contact Jerry Smith, the Director of Music Ministries at firstname.lastname@example.org or click on the box below for more information.
Carondelet Leadership Academy, a charter school that serves the St. Louis City School District, is located only a block away from MCCGSL. As a neighborhood school, most of the students live within walking distance of the school and our church.
Carondelet is seeking support from the community for both in school and after school reading and math support for elementary students. We are looking for tutors of any kind and are seeking folks who can commit to a regular schedule be it weekly or semi-monthly.
If you are interested, please indicate your availability by clicking the link below for any of the following: mornings, early afternoons, or after school (3:45-4:45 pm).
Gather with Pastor Lauren at Kitchen House Coffee on Tuesday mornings for an hour-long conversation with a rotating focus drawing on various topics like themes from Sunday worship, community events, or major headlines in the news. This informal, weekly gathering is open to all regardless of how often one can come.
Come with questions, ideas, reflections or just ready to engage with Pastor Lauren.
In conjunction with our God with the People Worship Series kicking off September 8th, this Deep Dive Bible study will focus on the key people, places, and confusing events of the Hebrew Bible. This 10-week study with Pastor Wes will use The Books of the Bible: A Covenant History as a guidebook and the cost of the book is included in the price of the class.
This straight-forward retelling of the Hebrew Bible cuts the distraction of reading the traditional Biblical narratives and makes the story flow in a chronological narrative. Come ready for a refreshing, nourishing study of some of the most confusing parts of scripture. You will be surprised by the nuggets of gold hidden in these texts.
Gather together over small bites, brews, and sodas as we discuss theological topics ranging from difficult topics like sin and salvation to topics pertaining to current events or hot-button issues. Each gathering will provide an opportunity for folks to check-in about what’s going on in their Spiritual journey before diving into the topic of the month. Interested in discussing a particular topic? Let Pastor Katie or Lauren know!
Habitat for Humanity St. Louis is excited to host its first ever “Build with Pride” initiative where, working together, we’ll build affordable housing to advance our mission of creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Over half the renters in our region are spending 50% of more of their income on rent, leaving little to nothing left over for medical expenses, childcare, food and even education.
MCCGSL is looking forward to participating in this build on Saturday September 21 from 7:45 am-3:30 pm. All tools and training will be provided onsite, no experience is required. A suggested donation of $20 to participate and offset the costs for the future homeowner.
Too often, it seems, we’re just too busy to stop and play. We’re too stressed to experience the calming nature of creating something with our own hands or to finally finish that project started a while ago! It’s time to indulge our creative spirit.
Let’s come together weekly and enjoy a leisurely Saturday morning where we work on our favorite projects, encourage others in their crafts, and make new friends in the process. Like the old-fashioned sewing circle, this will be a great time to create cool things, work on whatever creative project we have going, color, scrapbook, mend, knit... and connect with each other about all kinds of things going on in our lives.
If you have been attending for a while, want to learn more about our church, or have been thinking about becoming a member of our church, this class is for you! We will explore what MCC believes, the work we feel called to do, and the ways we are interested in your spiritual life! All are welcome, and there is no requirement to become a member upon completion of the class. Includes lunch!
Come together to read and reflect on the moral, ethical, and spiritual undertones in some of the most popular books in our culture. Every month, this group will come together having read that month’s book. Each gathering will be hosted by a different person and the location of the meeting will take place in a different venue. Pastor Lauren will start us off with reading the Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. Each guest will be responsible to acquire the book on their own through their local library, Kindle, or a local bookstore.
Join us for a stroll through Carondelet Park while we marvel at the fall colors and talk about what God is doing in our lives that mirror what occurs in nature. All are welcome to this time of embodied reflection, crisp air, and beautiful color. Please wear warm layers and comfortable shoes. We will walk at a gentle pace and on paved trails so as to be accessible to all.
Because we are worshiping on Saturday this weekend, join us for a prayer walk on Sunday, September 15th at 11am if you are looking for an additional worship experience out in our neighborhood or cannot come to our alternative time. We will meet in the plaza in front of Carondelet Leadership Academy and walk around from there.
Mark your calendar that we will be celebrating worship on Saturday, September 14 instead of Sunday, September 15. The time is the same at 11am.
Carondelet United Church of Christ is having a Celebration Banquet in honor of their 150 years of service on the 15th. What an accomplishment! Please join us in offering our congratulations.

These online affirmations and reflections will invite you into a brief moment of focusing on your life, your spirit, and the wisdom we find from our culture.

Join us on Sunday, November 4, 2018, for our Annual Congregational Meeting. At this meeting we will vote on the 2019 proposed budget, the Board Candidates, reports from our leadership, and hear more about our building sale and search process. An agenda and other documents for the meeting are below.
With Bill Hurst’s recent withdrawal as a candidate, we now have four candidates running for four positions. This means that the vote for the candidates will be one of affirmation. Candidates must receive at least 50% plus one of the quorum of members on election day in order to be seated on the Board. If anyone is not seated, the Board of Directors will appoint a member to fill the vacancy.
This online opportunity to engage your faith and others on a daily basis begins on September 16 and continues until October 28.
As we all consider joining a Meetup Group this month and celebrate our 45th Anniversary in October, it is a good time to reflect on the importance of connection, friendship and community in our lives. For part of September and all of October, there will be daily, online devotions/reflections about these themes. Join in together to receive these reflections AND have the opportunity to interact with each other around them. This is an easy and quick way to give your faith a little time every day while also making connections with others who are doing the same!
Come and celebrate our 45th Anniversary of Ministry by attending a gospel music concert on Saturday, October 27 at 6:00 pm. Throughout the evening you will hear performances by the MCCGSL Choir along with our friends from Glory to Glory Christian Church and our new friends from the Community Gospel Choir of St. Louis (pictured below) under the direction of Suzanne Palmer! Bette Welch has arranged for an instrumental ensemble to share music that evening, too! It will be a wonderful night of music and praise.
Throughout the concert we will highlight and recognize many of our ministries and the volunteers who lead within our church family. As a way to say thanks, there will be a special reception to follow the concert with light refreshments and musical entertainment by Cary Colman. Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.
Join Pastor Wes at The State Historical Society of Missouri on the campus of the University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) to review the founding documents of our church.
Due to the restricted space and hours of the Historical Society, Pastor Wes will review the key documents in the records room in groups of 5-10 people at a time for 30 minutes at a time. Pictured is the letter detailing the first service of MCCGSL where just 10 people gathered. Follow our founding members on their journey from 10 to over 100 in just one year!
Following service on Sunday, October 21st, join us for a forum to meet the 2018 candidates for the Board of Directors. Visit this page after Monday, October 15th to read bios of all the candidates!
The election of candidates will occur at the Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 4, 2018.
On Sunday, October 14th we will have a Special Congregational Meeting to hear about and vote on any relevant offer(s) on our building for a sale. Additionally, the Board will review the two draft budgets below for the congregation for 2019. One shows our budget if we do not sell, and the other shows our budget if we are renting space (while searching for a new permanent home). Please make it a priority to attend this Special Congregational Meeting.
